RHODOLITE GARNETThe World's Foremost Red Garnet Fine African Rhodolite GarnetLapigems Gem Company has been involved with Rhodolite garnet for many years. It was once our main business to export fine Rhodolite selected rough to the various world cutting centers. Garnet is one of the most important historical gemstones - beads of garnet have been found in prehistoric graves in Eastern Europe. The word "garnet" comes from the Latin "grarantus" meaning "grain". It is derived from the word "pomegranite" which has numerous red seeds. Most people today think of garnet as a semi precious stone. This may be the case in terms of garnets like Pyrope and Almandite which are deep red and brown-red, but beautiful, rare purple red Rhodolites are a different propostion altogether. Large fine pieces are rare and their "spirit" pink/purple red hues are much coveted. Specializing in the Finest Rhodolite On the right of the screen you will see today's featured Rhodolites.
